How To: The Gold And White Chic Vase

- Home Decor
Wine Bottle Decor. The Gold and White Home Accent.

We all want that, right? That, at least, one piece in our home that when someone visits their reaction is “oh! wow!”. We hope that they love it as much as we do, but even if that is not the case that one home object definitely got their attention! After all, we do not all have the same taste! And i am proud to say that guests always have a close look to that one object. Our gold and white vase. A wine bottle decor idea! Another reason to have some wine!

DIY Gold and White Vase from a Wine Bottle.

And if you would like to try making your own, here’s what you’ll need and how to do it:

  • a wine bottle, i love this one. It is not the classic wine bottle and i love the wine too!
  • primer for painting the inside of the bottle. That things works on almost everything! I used water based primer for wood surfaces, but worked great with the glass.
  • spray paint. Your choice, i used gold,
  • adhesive tape,
  • and one beautiful bouquet of flowers
  • top coat, i used a water based wood varnish.

*The water-based primer and varnish for wood surfaces worked with my bottle, but you might want to check with your hardware store before purchasing any of them. Maybe they have something else to propose to you*

The wine cost 2$. I used the leftover latex paint and of course i already had the gold spray paint and adhesive tape. So, that cost almost nothing at all!

Pour some latex paint in your bottle and start swirling it to completely cover the inside. Do that as many times as necessary until you get the perfect coverage.

Cut small strips of tape, any size you like and place them on your bottle. Get creative! And next, the fun part! Spray painting!

Let your bottle dry really really well! We do not want to leave any fingerprints on the beautiful vase!

Wine Bottle Crafts. Making a pretty gold and white vase.

Carefully start peeling the tape off the bottle. Be careful not to scratch the paint.  After you have removed all the tape, i suggest adding a top coat to prevent any damage on it.

Buy your favorite flowers or get them from your mom like i did, sit back and enjoy your creation! Do you agree with me that it would also make a beautiful table lamp?

It’s amazing what a spray of gold can do to transform the most plain of old things.
I’d be interested to know, with the primer paint on the inside, can you add water for fresh flowers still or is it best to use artificial?

Hi Julie. I used water based primer, so sadly no fresh flowers. Artificial ones. Or maybe a small test tube in the bottle. There you could add water and fresh flowers.

My mistake Michele, i’ll update the post. I used a waterbased primer suitable for wood surfaces, but it worked great with the glass bottle. You might want to check with your hardware store before getting one. They might suggest another product.

My mistake, sorry. I did not have a glass top coat so i used a water based varnish for wood and metal surfaces from Thrakon, it’s a greek product. I am sure you can find something similar if you ask for that type of top coat.
