And you all thought i was never coming back! I thought so too, but then one day i got an invitation. An invitation to become one of the Creative Bloggers. And of course i said YES! I have to thank Eleana from My Home, My Memories for my return. She gave me the courage to come back! Thank you! And now you are all wondering…”what is that Creative Blogger thing?”. I’ll tell you more about it!
What happens when 6 blogs on the DIY & Decor niche come together? 7 Creative Bloggers, inspired each month from one theme, created and present to you a beautiful home related DIY. Creating, decorating, their ideas! Always beginning at the 1st Monday of each month and for the next 6 days each blog from the Creative Bloggers will share their idea. There’s not restriction in the materials or type of project, but it always has to be relevant to each month’s theme and ofcourse home related!
Our theme for October is fall related! Ioanna from Ioanna’s Notebook shared her cosy home yesterday and today is my turn! Fall decor is one big challenge for me! Because although i love fall, especially those gorgeous sunny but not boiling hot day, i do not like fall colors. i like bronze. Yes, bronze i like, but not any of the other typical fall colors. So this was challenging. At first i thought of making a wreath. That thought lasted only a while because i turned around and looked at our gallery wall. That’s one of the things i love the most in our home. And it was time to get a makeover. Leaves and fall flowers i thought at first. And then i changed my mind. I decided to decorate for fall using the fall constellations. The constellations visible in the autumn sky. That’s 13 of them: Andromeda, Aries, Auriga, Camelopardalis, Cassiopeia, Cetus, Eridanus, Lepus, Perseus, Pisces, Sculptor, Taurus and Triangulum.
My first thought was to find printables for each of them and buy and download. As i was searching though, i came across this You Tube video by Dan Bruton. He’s showing us an amazing way for drawing constellations using Excel! Click, click and you are done! You can find all the necessary files and more information at MidnightKite. Following his instructions i drew the constellations in Excel and using Pixlr Express and Windows Paint i created my printables. Nothing fancy, but they worked for me!
I added some information about each constellation. Size, galaxies or other interesting information. My sources were wikipedia.com, space.com, constellation-guide.com and earthsky.org.
Painting? Yes, i did that too. I used Fusion Mineral in Putty. It’s a gorgeous greige. My new favorite color! I also painted the frames i already had in Putty, that way the constellation printables pop and pop and pop.
So, there you have it. My fall decor! Not the typical fall decor, but i must admit i can never really achieve the look of any seasonal decor! So how are your decorating for autumn?
