Happy New Year everybody! I know it’s a bit late for that, but still! I hope you enjoyed Christmas and New Year’s. And now that Christmas decoration is coming down it’s time for after Christmas decor or winter decor. And that’s the theme for this months Creative Bloggers’ Challenge! Last month was all about Christmas!
Let me just remind you a bit about Creative Bloggers. What happens when 6 blogs on the DIY & Decor niche come together? 7 Creative Bloggers, inspired each month from one theme, created and present to you a beautiful home related DIY. Creating, decorating, their ideas! Always beginning at the 1st Monday of each month and for the next 6 days each blog from the Creative Bloggers will share their idea. There’s not restriction in the materials or type of project, but it always has to be relevant to each month’s theme and ofcourse home related!
Ioanna from Ioanna’s Notebook shared ideas for our after Christmas decor yesterday!
So…winter. Whites, and greys and snow. I do love whites and greys, you know that. And i was excited about this month’s theme. Until, my good friend Niki made an observation after i sent her a few recent photos of our family and home, “Haha…for a black and white decorating lady you have a lot of color going on now in children’s accessories! Good planning mom!”. Those were her exact words and this is the photo that she saw. You do understand now why i never share anything living room related. The dining area is the only, relatively, decent and tidy.
Color it is then! Adding a few color pops was a great idea i thought! Not the typical winter decor, but a way to bring spring earlier. I am not a color lady, like Niki said. The safest way fot adding color is flowers i think. I usually have a fresh bouquet on our dining table. And i bought 2 gorgeous white and pink/red candles during the holidays, but these are not enough.
Time to update our gallery wall, again, i thought! Printing a few vintage flower illustrations was the perfect solution. I found lots of them at the PlantCurator.com and chose to print these ones .
Going from black to the floral prints was the best choice! It’s a happy place now. How are you decorating for winter? Neutrals or colors? And what should i do with the big black piece on the wall? I love it and hate it now!
Eleana from My Home My Memories is sharing her Winter Decor tomorrow!
